2020: The Year of the

Ballot Measure

2020 will be the most engaged and active election cycle of all time, from the top of the ballot to the backyard state-level measures that will impact everyday life for voters in a way that transcends political affiliation.

1st Tuesday delivers winning state-level ballot measures across the U.S., led by a bipartisan, cross-country team of the most successful ballot-measure strategists of the past three decades.

The firm will focus exclusively on state-centric ballot initiatives and referendums with a first principle of helping clients navigate critical solutions to everyday issues that matter most to voters. In an age defined by legislative gridlock, 1st Tuesday is committed to direct democracy – building successful campaigns at the ballot box that transcend political affiliation.

Ballot Measures:

Where Impact Is Made

There is an increasing widespread lack of trust in elected officials to adopt comprehensive solutions to everyday issues that matter most to voters. Meanwhile, there is a dramatic and demonstrable surge in voters’ own empowered enthusiasm to participate directly in state-level democracy.

Prioritizing the success of substantive solutions over partisan politics, 1st Tuesday brings together experienced strategists of the Obama For America, Leave.EU and dozens of successful state ballot measure victories. With a combined  95% winning record the team’s founders are collaborating to help citizens successfully deliver meaningful results in their home states.

Winning Results, Not Partisan Rivalry

The exciting bipartisan partnership is led by three of the most successful ballot-initiative strategists of the past three decades:

Gerry Gunster, the 2017 “International Consultant of the Year” (Association of American Political Consultants) who has created a remarkable success record managing issue advocacy and historic victories in ballot measure campaigns in more than twenty states and Washington, D.C., as well as internationally.

Matt Rodriguez, a veteran Democratic strategist with more than 20 years of experience working for candidates and causes across the nation, including a role as the Western States Regional Director for Obama for America.

Jonathan Stember, another award-winning strategist with more than two decades of winning experience in state-by-state initiative and referendum strategy and management on the West Coast, across “heartland” U.S. states and internationally.

Combined, the 1st Tuesday team has worked on more than 50 ballot measures across nearly all of the 30 U.S. states that allow referendums, with a winning record of more than 95%.

Gunster, Rodriguez, Stember and the 1st Tuesday team have successfully collaborated many times over the years, with an unmatched depth of coast-to-coast, state-by-state, bi-partisan expertise.
